Activation Guide – WindowTop

This guide explains how to activate the Pro version of WindowTop. You can activate the product using one of the following methods:

  • License Key Activation — works with all versions: Microsoft Store version, Standard Installer version, and Portable version. You can purchase directly from the website on the purchase page.
  • Microsoft Store Activation — works only with the Microsoft Store version. To purchase via Microsoft Store, you need to first install the app through the Microsoft Store. Then, in the license settings page inside the app, click on the Purchase or Login (Microsoft Store) button. This will open the purchase window provided by Microsoft Store where you can complete your payment directly through Microsoft.

By purchasing directly, you are also supporting the continued development of WindowTop much more effectively. Unlike purchases via the Microsoft Store where a significant portion goes to Microsoft, direct purchases allow me to receive the full amount to invest back into improving and maintaining the software. Microsoft Store Activation

If you installed WindowTop from the Microsoft Store and purchased the Pro version directly through the store, activation is handled automatically.

  • Make sure you are logged in to Windows using the same Microsoft account you used to purchase the license.
  • No additional activation steps are needed. Once you open WindowTop, it will detect your Microsoft Store purchase automatically.
  • This activation method works only with the version you install from the Microsoft Store.

In case the license is not automatically detected:

  • Click on the Purchase or Login (Microsoft Store) button in the activation screen.
  • If you have already purchased the app, Microsoft Store should recognize your existing purchase and notify WindowTop that it is activated.
  • If it does not work on the first attempt, please try again.
  • If it still does not work, make sure you are signed in with the same Microsoft account you used for the purchase.

License Key Activation

If you purchased a license key directly from the WindowTop website, you can activate the Pro version by entering your license key.

How to activate using license key:

  1. Open the settings panel:
    • Right-click on the WindowTop tray icon.
    • Click on All Settings.
  1. Navigate to the Activation section:
    • In the left menu, click the key icon to open the Activation page.
    • Click on Activate by License Key.
    • Enter your license key in the field provided.
    • Click Apply.

Once the license key is successfully validated, the Pro features will be unlocked.

Optional: Link License Key to Email

We developed a new licensing feature that allows you to link your license key with your email (if you want), so next time, you can activate the app using your email address.

  • This feature is available for new purchases only (10$ for the non-Microsoft Store activation instead of 15$ one).
  • You can also use this activation on the Microsoft Store version.
  • After applying the license key, the app will show you the option to link it to your email.
  • You don’t have to do it. It is optional. But if you do it, next time, you can activate the app on another device using the Activate by Email button.
